ArkenZoo and Musti Group Expand With Prologis in Eskilstuna
Logistics real estate company Prologis signed a new 10-year lease with Zoo Support Scandinavia in Eskilstuna, Sweden. The agreement involves the entirety of Eskilstuna DC1, which is nearly 30,000 square meters. Zoo Support Scandanavia will expand its current logistics capacity into nearly 5,000 square meters previously occupied by Teknikmagasinet. In conjunction with the new lease, the entire property will be equipped with smart energy-efficient LED lighting, and there are plans to equip the building with solar panels.
Zoo Support Scandinavia is part of the Musti Group, which includes ArkenZoo, Animail, VetZoo and Musti's Norwegian and Finnish pet supply shops. The group is committed to developing their in-store and online customer offerings with everything pets require and will now concentrate their warehouse activity in Eskilstuna.
“We’ve gradually expanded our warehouse space in Eskilstuna since 2016 when we moved in, and now we’ve gotten the chance to take over the entire property,” says Tobias Nilsson Vo, chief supply officer at Musti Group. “Now we plan to base our support for stores in the Nordic region and our e-commerce activity here.”
Nilsson Vo says that e-commerce has experienced robust, continuous growth since 2016 with an extra push in 2020 during the pandemic. In addition to an increased demand for warehouse space, this created the need for a good logistics location for the entire Nordic region. Eskilstuna offers numerous advantages. It is home to Sweden’s largest intermodal terminal, and the location combines three different modes of transport: rail, motorway and air. The facility is only 70 kilometers from Stockholm, and 3.8 million residents live within a 60-minute radius.
“In addition, Eskilstuna has great access to staff,” says Nilsson Vo.
For both Prologis and the Musti Group, continuous work with sustainability is important. For Prologis, expansion of the premises creates the opportunity to equip the entire property with energy-efficient, smart LED lighting, which also improves the work environment.
“Prologis focuses on being a leader in sustainability from a broad perspective,” says Gunnar Gillholm, country manager Prologis Nordics. “Together with our customers, we want to push the development forward to ensure our properties are always at the cutting edge in this area. At this property, we have a common goal to equip the space with solar panels, for example.”
