Prologis will develop an approximately 12,000-square-metre logistics facility in Kungsbacka for Coloplast, a global medical technology company with a long-standing presence in the municipality. The development will support Coloplast’s Nordic distribution needs and is planned to begin construction in the first quarter of 2026, subject to the planning and permitting process.

The facility is primarily designed as a high-capacity warehouse for the storage and distribution of medical technology and pharmaceutical products. It will be temperature-controlled to meet the stringent requirements of pharmaceutical-grade logistics. In addition to the warehouse areas, the building will include office space and a mezzanine level. In line with Prologis’ sustainability strategy, the building will use geothermal heating. Prologis is targeting a BREEAM Excellent certification and will incorporate advanced energy-efficiency measures and a high level of insulation, designed to support lower operating costs and reduced environmental impact.

The site is located in Fjärås, one of Kungsbacka’s designated industrial and logistics zones, positioned directly by the E6, the main north–south route between Copenhagen and Oslo. The facility will benefit from strong connectivity along the west coast of Scandinavia, efficient access to the Gothenburg labour market and proximity to the Port of Gothenburg, approximately 30 kilometres away. The plot is one of the final available sites in this area to be developed under the current zoning plan.

Expansion in the Gothenburg region continues to drive demand for locations with strong access to transport corridors, labour and the port. Fjärås offers the combination of motorway connectivity, port proximity and workforce availability that companies increasingly seek when planning for long-term logistics operations.

“It is very encouraging that Coloplast is continuing its expansion in Kungsbacka, and it is especially pleasing to welcome Prologis, a strong player in the logistics cluster, to Fjärås,” said Elinor Filipsson, Head of Business Development at Kungsbacka Municipality. “The investment by Coloplast and Prologis will contribute to Kungsbacka’s continued development.”

Prologis has been active in Sweden since 2006. Today, the company owns and manages around 930,000 square metres in Sweden, concentrated in logistics hubs around Stockholm and Gothenburg, and employs a dedicated team based in Gothenburg.

“We have confidence in the Swedish market and want to grow our presence here in step with real demand and in a way that is sustainable,” said Tony Johansson, Director, Head of Development Management Nordics at Prologis. “With this new facility for Coloplast in Kungsbacka, we are putting that approach into practice by delivering a building that supports efficient and resilient operations in a strong logistics location, and by working closely with the municipality and Coloplast as the project moves ahead.”

The Kungsbacka development forms part of Prologis’ broader work to provide customers in key locations across Sweden and Europe with modern, energy-efficient logistics facilities that support essential supply chains and local economic growth.
